Yes yes I know what you’re thinking, have I read all the books from the last haul? Well no, but I’ve started two of them… Any way, I have them now so I can read them when I want…
I recently turned 22 and for my birthday I was very kindly gifted money and book tokens so I took a trip to town and had a look for some books. Here is a list of what I got and a little synopsis of them all.
Here’s what I picked up from Waterstones;

While playing an erratic round of Golf, Bobby Jones slices his ball over the edge of a cliff. His ball is lost, but on the rocks below he finds the crumpled body of a dying man. With his final breath the man opens his eyes and says ‘why didn’t they ask Evans?’
Haunted by these words, Bobby and his vivacious companion Frankie, set out to solve a mystery that will bring them into mortal danger.

Calm by Michael Acton-Smith
Trains delayed, non-stop email, endless to-do lists – there has never been a more important time to stop, recharge and discover moments of calm.
Absolutely everyone can achieve calm – including you – and in this book you’ll learn how to take back a little bit of peace, space and all-important time for yourself.
Using a mixture of creative prompts, activities, instructions and inspiration. Calm will open your eyes to the pleasure and richness of your everyday life.
Be calm. Be free. Be yourself.

You all know, don’t you, that if people are frightened very often, the sometimes become invisible.
In Tove Jansson’s much loved short story, The Invisible Child, the isolated Ninny is helped to regain her voice and take her rightful place in the world using a simple Moomin recipe. She is welcomed into the Moomin family and treated with equality and respect. This is one of the most touching of all Moomin stories and is paired in this unique book with The Fir Tree, the Moomins’ gloriously unselfish take on Christmas.
I then took a trip to HMV and picked up;

When James Bowen found an injured, ginger street cat curled up in the hallway of his sheltered accommodation, he had no idea just how much his life was about to change.
Soon the two were inseparable and their diverse, comic and occasionally dangerous adventures would transform both their lives, slowly healing the scars of each other’s troubled pasts.
And from my favourite Amazon seller World of Books I bought;

The tranquility of a cruise along the Nile was shattered by the discovery that Linnet Ridgeway had been shot through the head. She was young, stylish and beautiful. A girl who had everything… until she lost her life.
Hercule Poirot recalled an earlier outburst by a fellow passenger: ‘I’d like to put my dear little pistol against her head and press the trigger’ Yet in this exotic setting nothing was ever quite what it seemed…
So that’s it for now, my new books are lined up on my shelf to be read… If you have any suggestions of what I should read next or what you think I am missing in my collection, comment below!
