Book Review – Zoella – Girl Online

I decided to start the New Year off with Zoella’s book Girl Online, so as promised here is my review…

Penny has a secret.
Under the alias Girl Online, Penny blogs her hidden feelings about friendship, boys, her crazy family and the panic attacks that have begun to take over her life. When things go from bad to worse, her family whisks her away to New York, where she meets Noah: a gorgeous, guitar strumming American. Suddenly Penny is falling in love – and capturing every moment of it on her blog.

But Noah has a secret too. One that threatens to ruin Penny’s cover – and her closest friendship – forever.

First novel by Zoe Sugg [known as Zoella] Girl Online is one that will capture your heart and will make you addicted, so much so that you can’t put it down.

I started reading it last week and finished it within a day, I’ve watched Zoella’s videos for a while now and find her so easy to relate to and I got the exact same feeling when I read her book.

We start the story off with an anxious teenage girl, who has to try and face her fears and participate at school, now all teenage girls know exactly the feelings that Penny in the book goes through, she is scared of what people think of her, possibly too much. When finally, the boy she has had a crush on for years asks her out she thinks that her luck is changing, however it’s not, she ends up falling on her face (literally) and then she goes viral.

After this happens her parents take her to New York over Christmas and New Years on a business trip when she meets a mysterious teenage boy, to whom she “likes so much it might even be love”.
This connection with Noah (mysterious boy) will tug on your heart strings, I felt so connected to their love story that I found myself reading the book on the bus with a huge grin on my face.

Noah is the boy of any girl’s dreams he does everything perfectly. He cherishes Penny, he helps her through her anxiety issues, he surprises her and he truly, truly loves her.

However not all good things last, (now I’m not going to do a huge spoiler here but…) when Penny has to leave New York after New Years something goes wrong between the two love birds.
This is the point where I really felt for Penny, I had loved the book so far but at this point I genuinely cried, like a baby, rocking in the corner on the floor…

But then Zoella decided to bring it round so you don’t have to remain crying on the floor.

The novel was brilliant and I would suggest it to all of you, pick up the e-book, or in physical format it’s up to you, but read it!!

If you guys have any suggestions of books you think I should read, feel free to comment below or tweet me @LHutchon 🙂
